Barren Ridge Vineyards

I just visited Barren Ridge Vineyards in December, 2024 and really enjoyed the experience. The owner, John Higgs, was very welcoming and we had a nice conversation as we shared a mutual history in traveling and living in Europe. The Tasting Room is very relaxing and when you walk in you immediately notice the ambiance and fireplace. The staff we’re also very helpful and we tried a flight of wine. In addition, we enjoyed a small lunch and purchased a few bottles of Gluhwein, which is a German mulled wine which is very popular across Germany during the month of December when they hold their “der Weihnachtsmarkt” (Christmas Market). If you take the trip, we suggest taking route 252 North to Staunton and then navigating to Barren Ridge Vineyards which is located in Fishersville, Virginia. Congratulations to John and his family for honoring their past (the property was formerly an Apple Orchard in the same Higgs family.
